Two Mischievous Dogs

I know that I don’t really talk about my furry fluffs on House of Akih, but these two dogs are a HUGE part of my life. Haru and Kobi has been with me for a few years, and each of them are big on their respected personalities.

Haru (small) is the most independent dog I’ve ever met. When she was a puppy, she had a pretty severe separation anxiety, so I did my best to get rid of it. Well, it backfired because now, she’s completely independent to the point that she almost has a personality of a cat. Very odd. Still, I’m proud of her as she knows so many tricks! I’m not talking about your typical sit and stay command. This cutie will sit, lay down, play dead, high five, put her toys away and more without the need of a treat.

Kobi is the goofiest character I’ve seen across the board. He’s smart in a mischievous way, but he will love the f*ck out of you if you deserve it. He will demand scratches and stare while you eat, but again… He will love you! Prepare for hours of cuddles even when you don’t want them. He also knows a couple of tricks when treats are involved. In terms of learning, he learns much faster than Haru but he’ll perform them on his own little goofy way.

Well, there you have it! I’ll make an effort to post more about them here, but if I don’t, you can catch them on their Instagram!

Life is Better with a Dog

Besides buying vegetables on Fridays, I sometimes stop by the floral section to see if there’s anything that catches my eye. I get flowers at least twice a month just because they look so freaking pretty. There’s just something about looking at them at times when I’m under pressure and feel grounded. They’re a reminder that despite the chaotic mess I’m in, there’s beauty underneath the discord.
Is that just me?
I took these photos yesterday, and I have to say that my favorite part was making my shaggy dogs pose for me. I know that they definitely need the trimming, but it’s winter! So, I figured… One more month? I usually groom them myself because I find it pretty fun. I’d be lying if I said I haven’t been tempted to shave them down. Yeah, I definitely need to groom them next month.
One of the presents I got for Christmas was this peach matcha green tea from Teavana. The packaging was too pretty to not try it. I’m usually not a fan of green tea, but I have to admit that this one broke my record-long of despising such tea. It’s a definitely worth trying. I couldn’t help but continue sipping on it until it was all gone!
Today, I’m going to have a relaxing Sunday as in read a book, make plans to break plans, catch up on shows, and cook! What do YOU usually do on Sundays?
Behind the photos: Last week, I mentioned how the story behind the photos are so much better. Well, this week… I had to keep my dogs out of my way because they kept bugging the **** out of me! Notice Kobi on the bed. Oh, and clumsy me almost fell out of bed trying to take photos at different angles. I also dreaded cleaning up the mess I made right after.

That One Overcast Sunday Afternoon

I don’t have children of my own for selfish reasons, but I do have two dogs. My three-year old is Haru, and the two-year old is Kobi. I don’t think they realize how important they are to me because without them, I wouldn’t feel so grounded. They fill-in the void of emptiness in the room with their playful demeanor.
It was a Sunday afternoon when we took these photos. It was an overcast day which was normally lovely, but that day was a bit off. Perhaps the blistering cold weather had something to do with it? When I took these photos, I kept telling Haru to stay still. Normally, she would look at the camera but since she was outside, she seemed absolutely distracted. Dogs will be dogs.
BTW, who else is sad that the holidays are over? We are too </3

A Brief Introduction About The Blogger

Hello, I’m Abby. A few days ago, I turned in my resignation letter from a company that while most would describe as horrendous, I called a blessing. I didn’t think I would last that long in such a business, but the fact that I did only shows that I’m strong minded. Starting next week, I’m starting a whole new chapter in my life, and let me tell you, I’m all shades of nervous. But, change is good.
Moving on, yesterday was just a gorgeous day. We’re not always blessed by an overcast, but I was lucky enough to see it all. There’s nothing more awesome than waking up to a not so sunny window side. You have no idea how much I’ve detested summer mornings with the sun greeting me with the most annoying heat wave. Granted that we do have the ac unit on at all times, it still bothers me that it’s hot on the other side of that wall.
I don’t think I’ve ever introduced you all to my two dogs. The small one is named Haru. She’s a yorkie mix with the tricks up her sleeves. No really, she’s really smart. And then there is Kobi who was adopt exactly one year ago. He’s the sticks to me like cling wrap, but I appreciate his lovable company. I don’t have to point out who’s who, right?
This post is a mess. The sole purpose of this entry was to write about this infinity scarf, but I got all kinds of discrated! I wore this for the first time yesterday in celebration of the overcast. I got this at Target last month for only $3. I swear. I just love finding bargained deals as I’m really practical with my income.
Lastly, I apprecite all your comments and visits! I know I’m a little behind on all the replies, but I promise that I’ll catch up to them. I love all of your support! Thank you!
xoxo,
Abby
